Инфинитив или Герундий - ОСНОВНОЙ КУРС

Мы уже рассмотрели случаи употребления Герундия, теперь обратим внимание на случаи, когда употребляется только Инфинитив:

C частицей to

Без частицы to

для указания цели: She stopped to buy ice cream. — Она остановилась, чтобы купить мороженое.

после модальных глаголов must, can, will, should и др.

после некоторых глаголов: to advise to (советовать), to agree to (соглашаться), to appear to(оказываться), to decide to (решать), to expect to (ожидать), to hope to (надеяться), to promise to(обещать), to refuse to (отказываться)

после конструкций had better (лучше бы) / would rather (предпочесть — часто при выборе):

I would rather stay at home. — Я бы предпочел остаться дома.

I had better leave now. — Мне лучше сейчас уйти.

после вопросительных слов where, why, how, what:

I don't know where to meet them. — Я не знаю, где их встретить.

после make, let + дополнение

I let my child watch TV. — Я разрешаю (позволяю) своему ребенку смотреть телевизор.

She made me tell the truth. — Она заставила меня сказать правду.

в конструкциях после too (слишком), enough (достаточно):

She is too young to understand it. — Она слишком молода, чтобы понять это.

I'm tall enough to reach that shelf. — Я достаточно высокая, чтобы достать до той полки.


после would like to (хотел бы), would love to (очень бы хотел), would prefer to (предпочел бы)

James: Hello, I'd like to order some flowers, please.

deliver - доставлять; delivery - доставка

bunch - букет

on your behalf - от Вашего имени
