1. Беседа об авторе

— This year we’re going to read and discuss the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. What do you know about the author of the book?

(Ученики называют имя автора и известные им факты его биографии.)

— Look at the factfile about Lewis Carroll.

(На доске запись.)

— At home read Lewis Carroll’s biography on page 4 and the story’s background on page 5. Then do the exercises on page 30.

2. Работа по книге для чтения

— Let’s begin with the plot of the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

(Учащиеся читают текст The plot на с. 5 и выполняют соответствующее задание на с. 30.

Keys:

Alice is a girl who has adventures in Wonderland.

Alice and her sister are sitting by the river.

Alice sees the White Rabbit and follows him.

Alice falls down a rabbit hole.

Alice gets in a strange new world.

Alice meets talking animals and birds and some very strange people in Wonderland.

Mad Hatter is a person who always has tea.

The magic cakes and drinks help Alice change her size.

Wonderland is a strange and magical place where Alice has lots of adventures.

Alice’s size gets smaller or bigger after having magic cakes and drinks.

March Hare is a crazy hare who always has tea.

King and Queen of Hearts are in fact playing cards.)

— How many main characters are there in the story? (There’re nine main characters.)

(Учитель показывает изображения главных героев, ученики называют их. Если необходимо, учащиеся повторяют слова хором за учителем несколько раз.)

— Which character is your favourite one? Why?

(Ученики называют любимых героев.)

— Let’s see what you remember about the characters.

(Учащиеся выполняют задание The Characters на с. 30.

Episode 1

We are going to listen and read the first two chapters of the story.

— Read the words in Exercise 1.

(Ученики читают слова вслух.)

— Now look at the pictures on pages 8 and 9. Which of the things can you see in the pictures? (We can see a rabbit, a tree with a door, a river, flowers, a hole, a clock, a watch, some candles, a pink dress, a hat, playing cards, a tunnel and a waistcoat.)

(Ученики читают вопросы из упр. 2, затем читают текст в сопровождении аудиозаписи и отвечают на вопросы.

Keys: The rabbit is going down a tunnel. Alice follows the rabbit because he is very strange.

Ученики обсуждают вопросы из упр. 4 в парах, а затем все вместе.

Предполагаемые ответы:

1) Alice follows the rabbit because she is bored and it is very strange to see the rabbit with a waistcoat and a watch.

2) She is in a long, low room with doors all around it.

3) I think Alice is going to climb out of the tunnel or find a key to one of the doors.

4) I think she will find a key and open one of the doors.)

— At home listen and read Episode 1 again, then do Exercise 3.

Episode 2

— Read the title of the second chapter. Look at the pictures on pages 10 and 11.

1) Alice is in a room with two doors. One door is big and another door is very small.

2) In the picture on page 10, Alice is holding a bottle. In the picture on page 11, she is holding a cake.

3) I think she is going to drink from the bottle and eat the cake.)

— Read the words in Exercise 2.

— What do you think is going to happen in this episode? These words can help you to make predictions.

(Ученики высказывают свои предположения. Предполагаемый ответ:

Alice will probably use the gold key on the glass table to open the tiny door. She will drink from the bottle and become small. Then she will eat the cake in the glass box, grow too tall and hit ceiling.

Затем ученики читают текст в сопровождении аудиозаписи и проверяют свои ответы.)

— At home listen and read Episode 2 again, then do Exercise 3. Get ready to discuss the questions in Exercise 4.

(Учитель записывает домашнее задание на доске, а ученики — в дневниках:

Reader: The author (р. 4, 30); Background (р. 5, 30); Episode 1, Ex. 3 (p. 31); Episode 2, Ex. 3, 4 (p. 31).)
